Welcome to Building Life – the Science of Architecture: the commentary and resource site of Joseph Little, Assistant Head of School, Dublin School of Architecture, Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT).

Besides my management work I lecture on building performance in architectural technology and hygrothermal risk evaluation as a key tool in guiding specifications and designs for low-risk, high performance deep renovation and new build projects. This work is supported by my position as Irish cooperation partner for the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics in relation to the promotion, teaching and development of the Wufi suite of hygrothermal risk evaluation applications. As an ambassador for both DIT and Wufi I occasionally give lectures and training on this subject area in the UK.

Prior to joining DIT, my team and I in Joseph Little Architects and Building Life Consultancy did ground breaking work for clients in several countries, promoted a step change in building and design standards through conference lectures and articles, created training courses, won awards and registered various national firsts over many years. In the process we developed some great resources.

As part of my wider role in Dublin School of Architecture I want to continue developing and sharing these resources for the building industry and homeowners. So watch this space!
